OHIOHEALTH WEBSITE REDESIGN

OhioHealth was undertaking a huge redesign to make their site more user friendly for their patients and staff. With the site being over 2,000 pages and a short timeline for completion, the team had to pull together to make it happen on time and on budget. As a Senior UX Contractor, my role was to lead and onboard the younger staff through the production process, how to use the Content Management System (EpiServer), and to ensure we were on schedule for our deliverables. The team also saw areas OhioHealth could improve upon. Suggestions were made, comps were created and pitched, and the agency partner implemented our changes. Win-win.

KEY PROJECT NOTES

  • I managed 2 younger UX designers, onboarded them to the project and mentored them through creative direction

  • End-of-day check ins were used for us to talk about the day, to give the status of the work and to delegate upcoming aspects of the project

  • After reviewing the current design templates, I noticed some items were not great from a responsive standpoint. I designed improved solutions which was presented to and approved by Senior/SVP level management.

  • Upon joining the team, the agency partner did not provide the team with any wireframes. I reconstructed these to help easily onboard new staff to the overall design rules and creative direction.

  • To improve the site’s design, I provided CSS recommendations to revise global typography and gave recommendations for mobile/tablet media queries

  • Learned a new, complex CMS quickly to be able to on board new UX staff + to assist with any necessary production efforts
